Prior to registering for this certification course, we highly recommend that you take a basic pistol class first.

The Covered 6 Carrying Concealed Weapon (CCW) hybrid training course is required by the Ventura County Sheriff Department in order to obtain a CCW in Ventura County, California. In this (8) hour course students will learn the required training in firearm safety and the law of the permissible use of a firearm. We also cover drawing from a concealed holster, weapon selection, use of force options, and then complete the mandatory CCW live-fire qualification.

This is a (8) hour course. The first (4) hours will be a self study online portion on the Covered 6 Institute LMS platform where you will earn a certificate of completion. This MUST be completed prior to attending the in person qualification training day. Instructions will be sent to you after your purchase of this course.

This class is for people who have applied for a concealed carry permit through the Ventura County Sheriffs Office and have received official documentation that you need to take the approved course and range qualification.

Our Ventura County certification courses are held on the last Saturday of each month. We kindly ask that you review your schedule in advance to ensure your availability.
If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, you will automatically be rescheduled for the next available in-person class. Should you also be unable to attend that session, you will have the option to either receive a refund or schedule a private, in-person lesson at the rate of $250.00 (minimum of 4 hours).
